Lost Lander – Afraid of Summer (MP3)

Portland based musician Matt Sheehy and company in Lost Lander recently released their LP, DDRT, earlier this January to little fanfare, having but a mere throwaway plug on SPIN magazine.  However, it wasn’t until their subsequent feature in Rolling Stone’s Exclusive Download section that the musical masses started to take notice.  Sheehy, together with producer and long-time friend, Brent Knopf, formerly of Menomena, came up with the idea of Lost Lander over many collaborative recording sessions at Knopf’s home studio.  The material, which would ultimately become the foundation of DDRT nike air max 2009, started as incomplete one to two minutes of instrumentals with scant lyrics.  Through Knopf’s influence and specific direction, the collage began to take shape, as talented musicans like drummers Dana Janssen and Scott MaGee were brought in to fill the incomplete sections.

Songs like “Afraid of Summer” highlight the atmospheric and moody tones that took place during DRRT‘s recording. It is intimate, and also intimately orchestral upon listening.  Thoughtful drum lines and poignant strings give the song emotional oomph in its quieter sections.  Yet when Sheehy sings “you can never go home,” the song reaches an even higher emotional crescendo that holds you long after the song ends.

The band just wrapped their U.S. tour in New York; however, for information on their fan tweets, blogs cheap dr dre beats headphones, press kits, as well as other Lost Lander-related content, consult either their official band website or their Facebook page.  Also, check out the video for their other single monster beats headphone, Cold Feet:
