Retrogazing Sunday

>> I had been pondering whether to do the whole weekend for Vintage at Goodwood, a new festival that has popped up onto the circuit, combining art, music, fashion and film that unabashedly turns back time to Britain in the eras of 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.  Instead, though I'm going for a day trip with the British Fashion Council who are showcasing some of Britain's New Gen finest at a special show on Sunday called 'Future Vintage' - the collectibles of the future that include Louise Gray, Holly Fulton,Nike Air Max 87 Mens, Michael van der Ham,soccer jerseys sale, Mary Katrantzou and David Koma.  Here's hoping for school trip japes made more fun by a gaggle of fashion peeps...;

I'll be snapping like a maniac on Sunday because I have to see everything within one day and there's quite a bit to cram in...

...a vintage marketplace crammed full of vendors of clothes and collectibles... a fantasy British high street complete with old John Lewis haberdashery, a 1948-style Oxfam, a cinema showing old film...hair salon and beauty parlor doing the whole makeover thing... Butlins for the kids... sewing/knitting/DIY workshops... roller disco... restaurants serving lunch, tea and dinner accompanied by 1940s big band... 1970s style curry house... photo booths as well as a vintage fashion photo studio...

Sadly, I'm only going on Sunday so I'll be missing shows themed around delights like Nova magazine (still hard to track down original copies of the mag...) and a Hardy Amies archive show.  Still, there's enough here to keep me busy for the day which is why I'm going prepared with the iPhone app to guide me around.  Hardcore vintage aficionados may see me and throw rocks at me...

I think tickets are still available for Friday (tomorrow),Gucci Card Case, Saturday and Sunday if you're after a day out to escape London rain...

**EDIT** I'd like to add that Amelia Gregory has written a very measured and two-sided article about the way the people behind Vintage at Goodwood have handled accreditation and communication...food for thought - I didn't go down that route and was lucky to be invited via the BFC but honestly... some of this reeks of the sort of agency cluelessness that I didn't think existed anymore...
